Glasses, necklace, storage bag.
Do you ever suffer from tension headaches? Do you get a stiff neck from looking up? Do you stand further away from a building to reduce the angle at which you look up?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is your body telling you that 'persistent looking up' is NOT OK for the neck.
Work-related injuries in window cleaning are often TO PREVENT. We can wear sunscreen to reduce sun damage to our skin. We can use telescopic poles to spare our knees, instead of climbing ladders AND, we can wear wax goggles to prevent injury from unnatural posture. The opposite of ergonomic is... UNCOMFORTABLE.
The trapezius muscle contracts, and overuse can reduce blood flow to the brain, causing tension headaches.
If you do not experience discomfort when you look up, it does not mean that you are not doing damage. Often, this kind of injury can take a long time to manifest, just like knee damage from climbing ladders.
So, if you're not in pain now... it's only a matter of time. And, PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!!!
PRO TIP
Many people experience a feeling similar to car sickness when they first try on prisms. This is perfectly normal. However, after 1-4 hours of use, your brain will be so used to them that you won't want to work without them!
Where did these glasses come from?
These types of glasses were originally developed for the rock climbing industry, so climbers didn't have to strain their necks to look up. By bringing them to our industry, window cleaners can experience the same benefits.
